Calls To ACTION: April 26, 2014 (Dickson & Chattanooga)

Picture
April 26, 2014 will be a busy day for anti racist activists in Tennessee, where you will, incredibly, have your choice of protest between two outrageously racist organizations.

In Dickson, TN, American Renaissance (AmRen) returns to Montgomery Bell State Park Inn for a third year, where they will host their annual national conference.  AmRen promotes an 'intellectual' version of racism they call 'race realism'. Their national conference is meant to provide an open space for "intellectuals", neo-nazis, and other racists to come together, network, and make plans for the future. The conference is basically a training ground for racists to learn how to grow and sustain their organizations. Learn more about last year's counter conference here.

In Chattanooga, the National Socialist Movement (NSM), more commonly known as neo Nazi's, are holding an anti immigration rally at the Hamilton County Courthouse where they are expected to loudly (their rally is amplified) and vociferously share their vision of a world where only white people exist...oh, yeah, they'll also try their mightiest to recruit our white youth to their hateful ideology and incite counter protesters to violence. This neo-Nazi Hate Rally comes the day before Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, on April 27.

Both of these events require the attention of anti racist and social justice advocates.  Read up on safety at protests. Lend your voice to the chorus of Tennesseans who are committed to equality and diversity, and determined to push back against the rising tide of racist rhetoric and action in our state. Don't forget to sign the Statement of Solidarity.

No Hate In Our State! TARN endorses non violent protest and actions that foster a culture of respect. Contact us at notinourstate@gmail.com. Find us on Facebook.

CALL TO ATION: April 26, 2014: Oppose AmRen at Montgomery Bell State Park Inn, Dickson, TN

  • A protest rally called by Clarksville Students for a Democratic Society and TARN is scheduled at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Montgomery Bell State Park Inn to protest the continued use of the State Parks by the overtly racist, pseudo-scientific organization, American Renaissance (AmRen). AmRen is not a stereotypical white-supremacist group meeting in the backwoods. The individuals that participate in this organization have political, economic, and academic power in their communities. Their conference, being held April 25 - 27, at Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson, Tennessee, is purposely in the public eye, where they believe their hatred and pseudoscience will go unopposed.
    Learn more about AmRen
    here.
  • TWEET Y'ALL!! (Suggested Tweet: @TNEnvironment, cancel the #AmRenaissance Conference now! Keep #TN parks a safe and welcoming place for all people! #StopTheHate)  We're trying to raise awareness about the racist American Renaissance Conference happening at Montgomery Bell State Park Inn next weekend. For movements on social media, twitter is by far the most effective. Let's all tweet using the hashtag #StopTheHate and the account is @TNEnvironment.
  • Other counter actions may be conducted and details will be provided here as they become available.
